Mart Green Discusses ORU's Future

TULSA, OK -- Big names at ORU took center stage Sunday to discuss the university's future.

"We know there's economic issues that had to be addressed," said Mart Green, chairman of the ORU Board of Trustees and university benefactor. "That $55 million in debt now is just a little over $10 million in less than a year, and we're believing that by the time that Dr. Rutland gets here, which is in July 1, we would like to see that down to zero. Wouldn't that be a great gift to give our new president?"

Green, his father and ORU's new president, Mark Rutland, spoke to students and the community Sunday evening at Victory Christian Center.

The three discussed the university's future and their overall mission "to raise up students to hear God's voice."

In other ORU news, a Tulsa judge is expected to decide whether to dismiss a lawsuit against the university Monday.

A former ORU accountant filed the lawsuit claiming the school fired him after he was told to hide records of financial mismanagement.
