DEL CITY, OK -- U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin is confirming she will enter the 2010 governor's race.
Fallin confirmed her intentions Saturday during the Oklahoma County Republican Convention in Del City.
The 54-year-old former three-term Oklahoma lieutenant governor initially announced her intentions during a conference call yesterday with dozens of people around the state.
Fallin is in her second term in Congress representing the state's Fifth Congressional District. She was the first woman and the first Republican to be elected Oklahoma's lieutenant governor
and would be the first female governor if elected.
U.S. Rep. Tom Cole and state Sen. Randy Brogdon of Owasso also are believed to be considering a run at the GOP nomination.
Democrats Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Attorney General Drew Edmondson also have said they will seek the post.
