TULSA, OK -- Jerome Jordan scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help lead Tulsa past Houston 77-68 Wednesday night.
The Golden Hurricane (19-9, 9-4 Conference USA) made 20 of 27 free throws in the final 6:45 as Houston fouled relentlessly, usually before Tulsa had crossed midcourt. Jordan made 10 of 13
free throws and blocked four shots.
Kelvin Lewis paced Houston (17-9, 8-5 CUSA) with 24 points.
Houston was trailing 55-50 with 6:55 to play when a series of fouls sent Tulsa players to the free-throw line. The Golden Hurricane made 30 of 38 second-half free throws after hitting one of two in the first half.
Ray Reese had 13 points for Tulsa and Justin Hurtt and Ben Uzoh each had 12.
The Golden Hurricane outrebounded the Cougars 39-30.
