TULSA, OK -- A police officer escaped injury in an overnight chase that began in Tulsa County and ended a short time later in Creek County.

The driver, 42-year old Jeffery Maynard,  made a visit to a Tulsa hospital, then was booked into the Tulsa County jail on a variety of complaints including assault and battery with a deadly weapon on a police officer.

The chase began at around 11 p.m. Thursday in Tulsa when a police officer tried to stop Maynard for several traffic violations in the 2900 block of West Easton.

Police say Maynard stopped, but then attempted to back the pickup truck over the police officer before taking off.

Officer Mark Wollmershauser Jr. was not injured.

Officer Wollmershauser chased the pickup truck, but lost the pickup truck in a Tulsa neighborhood.

With the help of Tulsa Police's helicopter, the chase resumed a short time later on U.S. Highway 412 then U.S. Highway 75.

The chase ended just west of Mannford near State Highway 48, where the driver lost control, causing the pickup truck to flip.

A woman inside the pickup truck was not hurt.
