TULSA, OK -- It looks like many people heeded advice from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and stayed off the roads on Monday night.

Slick roads can turn your world upside down in an instant.  Some drivers hit a patch of ice near Highway 66 and I-44.  The car tumbled down the embankment, coming to rest on its roof.  And, the truck landed on its side, spilling its cargo.

"We are discouraging any kind of travel tonight. If you can stay overnight somewhere, until tomorrow when the weather gets better," said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Antonio Porter.

EMSA spent the day racing from one accident to the next.  The 21st Street Bridge over Highway 75 proved dangerous for several drivers.  One pick-up truck's wheel dangled over the side of the bridge illustrating how close it came to falling onto the road below.

With all of the accidents, state troopers were asking drivers to be extra careful.

"We're asking anybody. If they are involved in a wreck, don't worry about that car, worry about yourself. Get clear away from the road," said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Antonio Porter.

Several stretches of highway looked like a sea of rollovers.  Trucks, jeeps and cars lost control and rolled, ending upside down.

Ice was visible in some areas.  In others, it was hard to see.  Troopers say it doesn't matter if you can see it or not.  With Monday's conditions, drivers can't chance it.  They have to slow down.

"Don't think because you have four-wheeled drive that you can still go 55 miles per hour, because you're going to get caught up in it," said OHP Trooper Antonio Porter.
