OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- Formerly conjoined twin girls who underwent separation surgery earlier this week are still in critical condition at the Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center.
Hospital spokesman Allen Poston said Wednesday that Preslee Faith Wells and Kylee Hope Wells had a "quieter night" and will remain in neonatal intensive care for an undetermined length of time.
He says there is no way of knowing how long the girls might be listed in critical condition.
The girls had been joined at the chest since they were born Oct. 25. They were separated on Monday by surgeons during an operation that lasted a little more than three hours.
Doctors have said the twins have a good chance of survival because they had separate hearts and did not share any major blood vessels.
