FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Ardmore native and former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Rex Ryan was introduced today as the new head coach of the New York Jets.

Ryan was hired Monday to replace the fired Eric Mangini and signed a 4-year deal worth a reported $11.6 million.

Ryan is the son of former NFL coach Buddy Ryan who was an assistant on the Jets' only Super Bowl team 40 years ago.

Ryan played football at Southwestern Oklahoma State and got into coaching in 1987.
