Irving, Texas -- University of Tulsa sophomore Mark Davidson was named the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week as announced on Tuesday by the league office.
It is the first Athlete of the Week award of his career.
Davidson won the 800-meter run at the Wichita State Invitational with a personal-best time of 1:53.49. It was the fastest indoor time run in the 800 meters by a Tulsa athlete since 2006.
The sophomore also turned in a record-breaking performance the previous week on Jan. 9 at the Missouri Invitational when he broke the school record in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:26.81. Mark Hornbrook set the previous top mark of 2:28.0 in 1981.
Davidson and the rest of the Tulsa track and field team are back in action on Friday when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Razorback Invitational.
