BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Broken Arrow hopes the Crime Stoppers tip line will help the BAPD the same way it helps Tulsa Police.

The City of Broken Arrow is partnering with the Citizens Crime Commission to start using the 596-COPS number to collect tips.  Until now, Broken Arrow had been running its own tip line.

Tulsa's Crime Stoppers has been around for about 30 years and is one of the most successful tip lines in the country.

"This year alone we arrested over 10 robbery suspects in relation to Crime Stoppers' tips and we had nine homicide suspects that were either identified and/or arrested via the tip line.  Eleven fugitives.  And, that's just a few numbers.  We're not talking about guys who are going out and stealing a can of soup from the neighborhood store.  We're talking about people who are impacting our community on a negative basis every day," said Tulsa Police Officer Jason Willingham.

Through Crime Stoppers, tipsters can remain anonymous and can earn rewards if their tip helps police.   The average reward is $310.

Crime Stoppers is paid for by the Citizens Crime Commission, which is a non-profit group funded by Tulsa businesses.
