Happy 2009!
Hello and Happy New Year! If you're like me, you've probably been swamped over the last few months and now it's time to start afresh! I love the holidays, but there is something about the beginning of a new year to wipe the slate clean. Whether it's a resolution for better health, less stress and clutter or spending more time with family, this New Year holds great promise.
I am so hopeful in the fight against breast cancer. I continue to get emails from viewers who have just been diagnosed or have someone they know beginning the battle. I am encouraged though that many patients are being diagnosed earlier, which means a better outcomes. But it's never easy to hear those words, "You have cancer." It can be frightening not knowing what to expect. But there are more and more survivors out there who have battled the disease and won!
If you are a survivor, I challenge you to find a way to help others. There are many volunteer opportunities. Check with some of the local breast cancer organizations like Komen Tulsa or Tulsa Project Woman. You might also contact the Breast Cancer Network of Strength (formerly Y-Me) to see where you might be used. I know many churches also have cancer support groups that might use your help.
Make the most out of 2009! Find a place to share, to give back and to make a difference in the lives of others!
