TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Fire Department got a life-saving upgrade on Sunday. Tulsa Fire Engine 13 became the department's 10th Paramedic Engine Company.
Engine 13 is stationed in the 300 block of south 41st West Avenue. It serves the area west of downtown Tulsa to the Sand Springs line.
The new medical equipment will allow the engine to go from a basic responder, to advanced life support.
The engine will even have a group of new firefighters to man it.
Paramedics from the cadet class that graduated Friday will be on board.
Captain Michael Baker with the Tulsa Fire Department says no additional budget money was needed to add this service. He says the Paramedic certified personnel were hired to fill current vacancies.
EMSA assisted the department with acquiring the required medical equipment.
