One Person Dead In NewCastle Fire

NEWCASTLE, Okla. (AP) -- One person is dead and a firefighter injured following a fire in Newcastle.

The name of the victim of the Monday morning fire hasn't been released but firefighters say the victim was the only person in the house.

Fire Capt. Max Rinehart says the injured firefighter was hospitalized for heat exhaustion.

Rinehart says the fire began about 12:45 a.m. and may have been started by candles left burning in the living room.

He says the state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause.

Firefighters from Blanchard, Newcastle and Oklahoma City responded to the blaze.
