TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa mother is recovering from a gunshot wound after at least two men broke into home early Tuesday morning.  One of the suspects, 15-year-old Cody Ray Payne, is dead.  Tulsa Police say the residents were watching TV in the living room of their home in the 1300 block of North Irvington when two or three men forced their way through the front door with an assault rifle.

There appeared to be gunfire exchange between the father of the family and the suspects.  One of the suspects was found dead in the front yard of the home.  The mother was shot in the stomach, but is being treated at a Tulsa hospital.

Several teens were also inside the home at the time of the invasion, but they were not injured.  Police say if it was not for the quick thinking of the father the situation could have been much worse.

Tulsa Police tell The News On 6 suspects believe Hispanic families do not have bank accounts, so they must have cash stored in their homes.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS.
