TULSA, OK -- Students at Lee Elementary, near 18th and Boston, were challenged to collect toys for kids who wouldn't otherwise have any gifts for Christmas.
To help them get the toys to those kids, the school's partner in education, Tulsa Firefighters with Station 5, gave them a hand. It's something they've done together on for the past several years. And, even though the students had a little incentive, they still learned the lesson.
"Even though we had like a goal and a lot of it was the goal inspired people for the pizza party, but it's just great that these kids will get toys that won't have any for Christmas," said Gracie Rule, a 5th grader at Lee Elementary.
The students had a goal of collecting 300 toys. They passed it, by collecting 357. So, the whole school will get a pizza party.
