Peggs Man Injured In Shootout With Officers

LOCUST GROVE, OK -- A Peggs man is hospitalized after a shoot-out in Mayes County involving several law enforcement agencies.  Deputies say 36-year-old Robert Thompson tried to run over and shoot a man at a home south of Locust Grove on Sunday.

They say Thompson then drove into the woods and took a hunter hostage.  Eventually, authorities say Thompson stole the hunter's four-wheeler and took off.    

When surrounded, deputies say Thompson fired at them, so they returned fire, hitting Thompson in the groin.

Thompson was flown to a Tulsa hospital where he underwent surgery.  Authorities don't believe Thompson knew any of the victims.
