TULSA, OK -- Military moms spent Thanksgiving trying to brighten the holidays for service members on the frontlines.

The Blue Star Mothers are collecting donations for freedom boxes.

"Donations are way down, monetary as well as the supplies, so we need everybody to think a little bit, and you know, give up one Christmas present. It wouldn't hurt to give up one of your own Christmas presents to help the troops," said Barbara Porter of the Blue Star Mothers.

The Tulsa chapter plans to send up to 2,000 boxes to the troops before Christmas.
