OWASSO, OK -- The investigation continues into a shooting that injured a Green Country woman. Owasso Police hope surveillance video from a nearby store and calls from the public can help them identify the suspects in the drive-by.
Owasso Police say a couple was exiting on 86th Street North off of Highway 169 shortly before 8 o'clock Wednesday evening. Suddenly they heard several gunshots.
"She heard two or three loud pops and felt a stinging in her arm," said Owasso Police Sgt. Mike Barnes.
"Entered through the rear of the vehicle around the tail light and struck her in the left arm," said Owasso Police Chief Dan Yancey.
The woman's husband rushed her to an Owasso hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening.
Police say it appears the shooting is random.
"We don't know if it was mistaken identity, or what. It's something that is not common in our area," said Owasso Police Sgt. Mike Barnes.
"The victim is unaware of any connection with anybody that would cause, lead to any harm to them," added Owasso Police Chief Dan Yancey.
Owasso detectives gathered shell casings at the scene and are now working to identify the shooter. They say the victim says she saw the suspects get into the car as she was leaving Owasso's Wal-Mart store just before the shooting. Police are hopeful the store's surveillance video will help them in their investigation.
"Through video surveillance and still photographs, we probably will be able to produce some type of good image of the suspects," said Owasso Police Chief Dan Yancey.
The suspects were in a dark colored Honda Accord, possibly with an out of state license plate. Anyone saw the suspects, either at Wal-Mart, or driving, should call Owasso Police at 272-COPS.
