TULSA, OK -- Planning work continues by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to make sure crews are ready to deal with winter weather.
The planning began last spring. O-DOT has bought some new equipment, and it's been stockpiling lots of salt.
O-DOT has about 8,500 tons of salt stored at three sites around Tulsa. But, no matter what workers do to keep the roads safe, drivers still need to slow down.
"People think that if they've got a four wheel drive vehicle in Oklahoma they can drive over anything or if they've got a huge truck they can drive over anything and that's not necessarily the case," said Tulsa Police Lt. Craig Murray.
