CLAREMORE, OK -- Hundreds of Claremore students made a pledge on Friday to not use their cell phones while they are driving.
Students organized the drive, complete with public service announcements, after a teacher and her daughter, who is a student, were in a serious accident in September. Police say the other driver was a teen who was using his cell phone when he hit them.
"I've learned. Personally, I've texted while driving and after this I don't do it. It's too scary. There's too much of a risk," said Claremore Senior Class President Brittney Wilson.
Students also sold bracelets with the message printed on them to raise money to go towards the teacher's medical bills.
