TULSA, OK -- Finding out about sex offenders in your neighborhood is now a little easier. The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has launched a new sex offender registry website.
Ten police chiefs from cities across Green Country attended the website kick-off on Thursday morning. The website is called Offender Watch. And, it allows you to search for the locations of sex offenders near where you live.
You can also sign up to get email alerts when offenders move into your neighborhood.
"It lets them know who's living next door or who's living down the street and it can protect their children, and to let them know where their children are going, whose house they're going to be walking by, and what crimes those people may have committed," said Skiatook Police Detective Shane Thompson.
The City of Tulsa is not part of this program.
Sex crimes officers say Tulsa has its own database that enables you to locate offenders anywhere in the city.
Tulsa Police say they're proud of their own program, but support the efforts of other cities to link up for this service.
The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says they'll pay $10,000 a year for the service.
