TULSA, OK -- More than 2,000 pounds of food are on the way to area food banks. Weight Watchers is donating it.
On the national level, they made a pledge to make a donation based on the number of pounds lost in the last six weeks. In the Tulsa area, people who attended Weight Watchers meetings lost more than 10,000 pounds. They also donated food along the way for the community food banks.
"In my meeting when I announced that we were going to give it to Broken Arrow neighbors, people clapped or knew about it or had donated before. And, they were glad to see that not only were they going to benefit by losing weight, they're also helping someone else who needs this food when we take our food for granted most of the time," said Amy Williams with Weight Watchers.
The national office of Weight Watchers will also donate to hunger-fighting groups.
