Pickens Talks Energy On 60 Minutes

T. Boone Pickens pushed his plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil on 60 Minutes Sunday night.

In order for Pickens' plan to work he says the country must replace the natural gas now used to generate 22% of the nation's electricity with wind power.

He has already spent $2 billion to build what will be a $10 billion wind farm in the Texas Panhandle.

Pickens says he will have about 2,500 wind turbines that could potentially power 1,300,000 homes.

But despite the rumors, Pickens says getting rich isn't part of his plan.

"Getting rich for me again isn't that big a deal. You know, in the last 5 years I've given away $700 million. I don't need any more money. My standard of living is about as pretty good as it can get," said OSU Alum, T. Boone Pickens
