Police: Man Admits To Eating Drugs During Pursuit

TULSA, OK -- An officer with The Tulsa Police Department tried to pull a car over around 10:30 Saturday night near Mohawk and Apache.

Instead of stopping, the man sped away. A pursuit followed.

Police say the man then lost control of his car and finally came to a stop after he ran over a gas meter. This resulted in a gas leak.

The man was hurt in the wreck, but still tried to run away.

Police were able to chase him down and that's when police say there was a scuffle.

Police were able to capture the man. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Police say the man told paramedics that he had swallowed a crack rock as he tried to speed away.

One of the officers was also hurt during the fight. He's expected to be okay.

Oklahoma Natural Gas had to shut down Cincinnati while they repaired the gas line damaged in the accident.
