UNDATED -- NewsOn6.com is gearing up for week eight of high school football action. This week's game-of-the-week features the Spartans and the Bulldogs. Here's how the battle between Bixby and Skiatook breaks down.
THE SPARTANS (5-2, 4-0 5A-3)
Last Week: Defeated Pryor 52-7
FEATURED: Since losing its first two games, Bixby has settled down and its defense is only allowing four points over the last five contests.
KEY TO SUCCESS: It appears the stage is set for a 5A-3 district championship between the Spartans and Booker T. Washington the final week of the season. Both teams play Skiatook and Will Rogers leading up to the November 7th match-up.
THE BULLDOGS (4-3, 2-2 5A-3)
LAST WEEK: Lost to Bishop Kelly 44-0
FEATURED: The offensive line is much improved from a year ago. They've paved the way for junior running back Seth Stanton, who is one of only 17 players in the state to rush for over 1,000 yards this season.
KEY TO SUCCESS: The Bulldogs have a chance to shake up the 5A-3 standings and improve its playoff position with a win this week. Skiatook, who is looking for its first playoff berth since 2004, also meets BTW next week before finishing up the season with Will Rogers.
