Leaking Limestone Closes Street

TULSA, OK -- It was not hazardous but it was a mess.

The westbound lanes of 15th Street between Lewis and Delaware were shut down Friday afternoon after a railroad car started leaking limestone onto 15th Street.

Tulsa Fire's Hazmat unit was initially called out, but a check of the substance determined it was not hazardous.

Tulsa Fire officials say the hopper car's chute opened causing the limestone to pour out onto the street below. 

The leak was stopped and City of Tulsa crews were called in to clean up the mess.
