OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- A new report accuses the state of Oklahoma of breaking federal election laws.
The report is called "Vanishing Voters". In it, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group accuses 19 states, including Oklahoma, of purging voters within 90 days of a federal election.
Purging is when the state removes in-active voters from the rolls.
State Election Board Secretary Michael Clingman says Oklahoma purges its voters long before the federal deadline.
"Oklahoma is very aware of the 90-day rule. We just don't even bump up against that, because we do our purge in February of odd-number years, 18-months before the next federal election," said Michael Clingman.
If you are purged it's not too late to get back on the rolls. All you have to do is re-register.
If you want to vote on November 4, you have to re-register by next Friday, October 10.
