MIAMI (AP) - The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Marie has strengthened slightly as it churns out in the Pacific.
The storm's maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph early Friday. The hurricane center says some additional strengthening is possible.
Marie is centered about 855 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico. The storm is moving west near 6 mph on a path that's taking it farther away from Mexico's coast.
