SAND SPRINGS, OK -- The Open Rodeo Benefit rides into Sand Springs on Saturday and Sunday. The event raises money for the American Therapeutic Riding Center.
The non profit group offers its services to disabled children and adults. The therapy helps the disabled with things like balance, muscle-tone and, most of all, confidence.
"Most of the time the kids are really enthusiastic. They learn real quickly how to adapt to the animals. And most of the time they are smiling giggling or laughing by the end of the lesson," said the center's Cheryl West.
Admission to the rodeo is $6 for adults. Kids six and under get in free. The arena is just north of Highway 412, at the 177th West Avenue Exit.
