MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- Proposals to tighten Oklahoma anti-smoking laws in public places is drawing opposition from some eating and drinking establishments.
Restaurants are now required to restrict smoking to enclosed, separately ventilated areas.
Proposals expected during the next legislative session would prohibit all smoking in all restaurants and bars.
The plan is supported by state Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Crutcher.
Waitress Tammy Newell and Mahylon's in Muskogee says she doesn't understand the continued push and says if employees don't have a problem then government shouldn't worry about it.
Mahylon's owner Kenny Greer says government isn't working with small businesses and says if the stricter laws pass there likely will be lawsuits.
