In the East, a stationary front produce scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Southeast, Florida and the Carolinas. These storms were fairly general in nature, producing occasional to moderate lightning strikes, winds gusting to 35-40 mph at times, and brief heavy downpours. Rainfall amounts of upwards of an inch cause localized areas of flash flooding in South Carolina; and a funnel cloud was reported at Wildwood, Florida. Dothan, Alabama received 0.64 inches of rain, and 1.63 inches fell at Orlando, Florida. Further north, partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies and dry conditions were experienced across the Great Lakes region, the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys, and the Northeast. A few record high temperatures were set as readings warmed into the 80s across the Northeast. Islip, New York reached a high of 84 degrees which broke the old record high for the day of 82 degrees set back in 2005. Kennedy, New York also set a new record high of 85 degrees which broke the old record of 82 degrees set back in 1997.
Across the western two-thirds of the country, a low pressure system continued to produce showers and thunderstorms across the southern tip of Texas. No severe weather was reported, but areas of heavy rain did occur. Harlingen, Texas received 2.99 inches of rain, and 1.78 inches few at Brownsville, Texas. A few showers and thunderstorms also develop across the higher elevations of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. No severe weather was reported and rainfall amounts remained light. Otherwise, a large ridge of high pressure allowed for mostly sunny skies and dry conditions through the Mississippi Valley, the Plains region, the majority of the Rocky Mountains, the Desert Southwest, the Great Basin, California, and the Pacific Northwest.
