TULSA, OK -- Bold Predictions.
"We have a good chance at winning state this year," said Booker T. Washington junior quarterback Eric Bennett. "We're going to win state."
Bold Play.
"The offensive line did such a great job," said Bennett. "I had so much time passing and running, that's why my stats were so good," said Bennett.
Good might be an understatement. Hornet quarterback Eric Bennett passed for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns while running for 117 in a cross-state showdown against Carl Albert.
"With the competition he had last season I think that really prepared him for all the pressure we put on him on Friday night," said BTW coach Antwain Jimmerson.
That pressure will be there Friday night against fellow public school power East Central.
"They're a good team," said Bennett. "They have a lot of athletes like we do so we're just going to play hard and fast and we'll beat them."
"I think the biggest key for us is line play. We've got to be able to block their defensive line," said Jimmerson. "We're two teams that have our sights set on winning a gold ball."
Especially Bennett.
"We're just ready this year, we're anxious and ready to get on the field," said Bennett.
