Million Dollar Heroin Shipment Seized

A traffic stop Monday on Interstate 40 in Canadian County netted nearly one million dollars worth of heroin.

CANADIAN COUNTY, OK - A traffic stop Monday on Interstate 40 in Canadian County netted nearly one million dollars worth of heroin.

An agent with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs arrested 33-year-old Luis Machuca of Sunland, California. Machuca was booked into the Canadian County jail on drug trafficking charges.

"The investigating agent received consent to search the vehicle and located approximately 10 pounds of heroin hidden in the engine," said Mark Woodward, OBNDD spokesman. "Specifically, the shipment was found inside a false battery compartment."

Woodward says it is unclear if the heroin was destined for Oklahoma.
