HAVANA (AP) - Residents around Cuba's capital are waiting for Hurricane Ike to blow by.
Ike remains a category 1 storm, but it's been unleashing a barrage of rain and powerful winds on Cuba since Sunday night. Hundreds of homes are destroyed and hundreds more are damaged.
State television says four people have been killed so far and some people around Havana admit they're scared. More than a million Cubans have left their homes and moved into shelters.
Ike's centered 85 miles southeast of Havana with sustained winds near 80 miles-per-hour. The National Hurricane Center expects it to move across western Cuba later today and be in the Gulf of Mexico by tomorrow.
When that happens, a forecaster at the hurricane center says "it has the potential to become a lot stronger." Texas or Louisiana could get hit by the weekend.
