Oklahomans Ready To Offer Hurricane Relief

Two teams of Tulsa volunteers took off for the Gulf Coast Friday night.

The Salvation Army will take two of its mobile kitchens to Arkansas.  The teams wait there until they know where they're needed most.  The kitchens can each fix 14,000 meals a day, brightening the lives of both storm victims and volunteers.

"If they can just reach out and give that warm cup of coffee or cold water in times of need.  It's the smile on the kids' faces, it's the smile on the people's faces who've been decimated by a certain disaster.  There's a part of their heart that is filled by providing these types of services," said the Salvation Army's Brad Borror.

The Baptist Disaster Relief Teams who fed thousands of people in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, are now on standby.  A team of 50 to 60 volunteers will be dispatched as soon as the storm makes landfall.
