NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Hospitals in New Orleans and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast don't want a repeat of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
With the approach of Gustav, which forecasters say could make landfall as a hurricane in coming days, hospital officials are making emergency plans.
They've canceled elective surgery, stocked up on food and other supplies. And the most fragile patients are being moved.
At least 140 patients died in hospitals and nursing homes after Katrina made landfall three years ago.
