Mark your calendar for The M.e.t.'s Household Pollution Collection event set for Nov. 8 - 9, 2008, at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds. You can dispose of many hazardous chemicals that may be polluting your home or garage, including: batteries, household cleaners, pesticides, fertilizers, automotive fluids, cooking oils, all fluorescent light bulbs, small ammunition, smoke alarms, aerosol paint, hobby paint, pool chemicals, items containing mercury and out-of-date prescriptions.
Items not accepted at the event include latex paint, tires, computers, radioactive waste and commercial waste. To dispose of latex paint, remove the lid and let paint dry completely. Place cans of dry paint next to regular residential trash for pick up.
