MIAMI (AP) - Forecasters say Hurricane Hernan could weaken to a tropical storm on Monday as it moves west over the Pacific.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, Hernan's maximum sustained winds have dropped to near 80 mph.
The hurricane's center is located about 1,280 miles west of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico. Hernan is moving toward the west near 9 mph.
Forecasters say the hurricane poses no threat to land.
