A free basketball clinic is offering a healthy alternative for at-risk kids in Tulsa. "Hoops for Hope" is sponsored by the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office with help from ORU coaches and players. The clinic teaches kids the fundamentals of basketball and opportunities the game offers.
"We're trying to plant seeds of hope in these kids today teaching them about desires and dreams, about determination and discipline," said Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris.
Some of the ORU players who helped out on Thursday say that basketball kept them out of gangs. It's also given them an education. Two of them will earn their degrees this year.
