The residents of a local retirement community may soon be exercising in their very own wellness center. Plans for the 17,000 square foot building were unveiled on Saturday at Oklahoma Methodist Manor in Tulsa near 410 East 31st Street. Resident Ruth Spann contributed half of the $4 million price tag. It will be named in honor of her husband and son.
"She's just such an inspiration to all of us. We thank God for her and the way that she continues to live a life that serves an example for all of us," said Oklahoma Methodist Manor Rev. Steven Dickie.
The Spann Wellness Center will include a pool, indoor walking track and other fitness areas. Organizers hope to raise the remaining funds and begin construction soon.
