The latest Oklahoma Poll confirms what many of us have been experiencing. The high cost of gas is forcing Oklahomans to change their driving habits. In the News On 6, Tulsa World Poll, 74% say they've already changed their driving habits.

Here's what those who haven't changed, say:

Gas would have to hit five dollars a gallon before 24% are willing to change. Ten percent say it would take six dollars a gallon and 50% say they will not or cannot change, no matter the price.

When asked if gas prices have motivated them to switch to a more fuel-efficient vehicle. Thirty-one percent say yes. Of the 68% who haven't changed vehicles, 14% say gas would have to cost five dollars a gallon before they buy a more fuel-efficient ride. Seven percent say it would have to go to six dollars. Another seven percent say it would have to be seven dollars a gallon or higher.

More than 60% say they can't or won't change vehicles, at any price.

Nearly 75% of the people we talked in our poll say, despite high gas prices they haven't considered alternative transportation. But, there's a program that makes it easy for commuters to share rides and reduce their expenses and local governments are hoping it will catch on.
