CHICKASHA, Okla. (AP) -- Human remains were discovered inside a pickup truck, belonging to a missing Chickasha woman, that was pulled from the Washita River.
Elip Moore, Chickasha assistant chief of police, says the truck belonged to Joann Stephens. The truck was pulled out of a section of river north of town at about 2 p.m. yesterday.
Two juveniles reported seeing tires sticking out of the water Sunday night. Moore says the area has rough terrain and is unpaved.
The truck was confirmed to be Stephens' because the license plate number matched the truck that went missing when she did.
Stephens has been missing since July 10, 2007. She was 49 when she disappeared.
The human remains found in the vehicle are being processed by the state medical examiner's office.
