OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A former school librarian accused of raping a 15-year-old student has been released from jail on $15,000 bail.
Laura Kathleen Cantrell said nothing yesterday after appearing before an Oklahoma County judge on charges of second-degree rape and oral sodomy.
But her defense attorney, Mickey Homsey, questioned the credibility of her alleged victim. Homsey says the teenager has provided authorities with several different accounts of his relationship with Cantrell.
Cantrell, a 40-year-old mother of two, was suspended from her position as a media aide at Harrah Junior High School after the allegations came to light in January.
She resigned in May after school officials recommended firing her.
