Why I Race:
There are some obvious reasons you'll find me at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. First, as a breast cancer survivor, it's a way for me to celebrate life. I'm so grateful for the chance to see a new day, to breathe in the fresh air and to put my best foot forward!
Gathering for the race with hundreds of other survivors is empowering. When I see a woman wearing a cap that proudly displays ribbons recognizing years of survivorship, I'm encouraged! I'm reminded that we've come a long way in breast cancer treatment. More and more women are surviving!
I race for my children. Rachel is sixteen and Nicholas is eight and they are both growing up fast. I race so that one day, they won't have too.
I race for my friends... those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Susan, Brenda, Meryl Lin, Debbie, Kathy, Jean, Shelly, Jeanie, Sheri and others. I race for my friends who have not been diagnosed. Theresa, Beth, Cindy, Denise, Jamie, Gayla, Jennie and others.
We all must stick together in this fight in hopes of one day finding a cure! I race to raise money to fund research and provide grants to programs that help folks right here in Tulsa. I race because I can... and you can too!
Please join me September 20 th at the CityPlex Towers at 81 st & Lewis and Race for the Cure.
