The person who gunned down two Tulsa teenagers is still on the loose. The News On 6's Ashli Sims reports investigators did several interviews on Friday, but still no one is behind bars for the crime. And, that has the neighborhood on edge.
Gun shots crackled through the night in the neighborhood in the 4400 block of North Detroit early Friday morning. Police say two homes were hit and shell casings littered the street, but no one was hurt. It's not clear if this incident has anything to do with two teenagers gunned down recently. But, the search for clues shines a spotlight on a neighborhood rattled by fears of retaliation.
"I do feel unsafe around here. Big time," said Tulsan Lee Staples.
"It's crazy. I just can't believe that would happen. It's just sad," said Tulsan Christina Mize.
A passerby found 18-year-olds Teontae Ray and Tajuan Davis shot to death in a car on Wednesday. Tulsa Police are looking for an early 1960s pickup, that's primer red or rust-colored, with a narrow bed. But, they haven't released a description of the suspect.
Officers say violence has spiked in the area, since the shooting.
"We're hoping to expedite this investigation and put the person responsible in custody. So, hopefully we can curb the violence just a little bit so no one else gets hurt," said Tulsa Police Detective Vick Regalado.
One young mother says she hasn't seen any more violence, but she's still nervous.
"Kinda wish I hadn't put myself over here now cause I heard it was a bad neighborhood. But, it don't seem that bad," said Tulsan Christina Mize.
"That just makes me nervous living in this area cause that could happen to me or you," said Tulsan Joe Green.
For now, neighbors are locking their doors, watching their backs, and hoping the person behind the killings will soon be behind bars.
"Gotta little bit chills up my spine, ya know. Cause the people out there they can do anything. And, I hope they do catch em cause they can do anything to anybody," said Tulsan Lee Staples.
Anyone with information about the pickup truck or the shootings is asked to call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS.
