A mother is now behind bars after her two-year-old son was scalded.  Ottawa County Sheriff Terry Durborow said 22-year-old Clarissa Pierce was arrested on Friday on a complaint of child neglect.

Pierce is accused of not seeking medical attention for five days for the toddler who was scalded over 50% of his body.  His injuries were severe enough to require skin grafts.

An affidavit, filed by the detective handling the investigation, says that Pierce asked her boyfriend, John Cellner, if they should get medical attention for her son, but he told her not do because DHS would get involved.

Pierce is being held on $150,000 bond.
