A Wyandotte man has been arrested in Ottawa County, accused of scalding a two-year-old child.
Ottawa County Sheriff Terry Durborow says 23-year-old John D. Cellner was taken into custody after a medical clinic reported the possible abuse of the child.
The clinic reported that the child was treated on July 2nd for second degree burns over 50% of his body. The boy was transported to a burn unit where it was determined that the burns were more severe and would require skin grafts.
Investigators say Cellner told them the child, who is his girlfriend's son, had been sprayed by hot water when he removed a radiator cap from a vehicle while the child was standing nearby.
Later, detectives learned Cellner reportedly sprayed the child with scalding hot water in the bathroom of their home. The incident apparently happened on June 27th, but medical attention wasn't sought for the boy until July 2nd.
Cellner is being held on $250,000 bond.
