Despite a weak economy, the Quapaw Nation is gambling on a new $300 million casino. The Downstream Casino opened its doors on Saturday in Peoria.
The new casino sports $70,000 square feet, five restaurants, two 18 hole golf courses and a 12 story hotel.
The Quapaw Nation expects to attract two million visitors every year.
It employs more than 1,000 people and is expected to bring $1.5 million to Oklahoma's public education system.
