Ponca City Man Drowns Near Kaw Dam

PONCA CITY, Okla. (AP) -- The body of a Ponca City man has been recovered after he drowned in the Arkansas River near the Kaw Dam.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says family members found the body of 22-year-old Harry Walter Blueback resting on a sandbar Saturday morning.

The highway patrol says the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stopped the release of water from the dam to lower the level of the river after Blueback was reported missing Friday night.
