A Green Country soldier is wrapping up three weeks of leave, before heading back to Iraq. Saying goodbye again is always hard, and it will be tough for Aaron Wright and his family. Wright is on double duty on the homefront.
News On 6 anchor Craig Day went to Tahlequah to talk to the proud soldier and proud new dad.
When you're a daddy and you've been in Iraq, things don't get much better than this.
Aaron Wright is home on leave after eight months as an Infantry sniper in Baghdad. Since he's been home, he's probably handed out a thousand kisses.
"She's grown about a foot. And she can talk really well," said Wright.
"I've been waiting for it for a long time," said Shauna Wright.
But now, in addition to 3-year-old Reagan, there are two more little ones to share his heart with twins, Chloe and Sierra.
They were just a day old when Wright made it home on Father's Day.
"I didn't even know it was Father's Day until I got there," said Aaron Wright.
"I'm very, very happy that he got to see the new babies and Reagan," said Shauna Wright.
"I knew about five days ahead of time that I was coming and I was so excited I didn't know how to contain myself," said Aaron Wright.
The family is spending quality time together. Wright has to leave again on July 4th for seven more months of duty.
"It's going to be tough. You just kind of have to swallow that lump in your throat and get on the plane," said Aaron Wright.
Until that day comes when he leaves again, he'll enjoy time with his girls and will probably give out a thousand more kisses before he has to say goodbye.
