The News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone reports another active weather scenario unfolds across the northern OK and southern Kansas areas on Sunday with a good chance of thunderstorms. Some may be severe. Highs will be in the upper 80s. Another round of storms may be possible later tonight and early Monday morning before moving away from the area.
The pattern will remain active with additional storm chances remaining in the extended forecast.
A complex of thunderstorms moved across the southern Kansas and northeastern OK areas late Saturday night and early this morning providing some large hail and damaging winds.
Another round of storms appears likely today, even this morning, across mainly the same areas. A severe thunderstorm watch remains until 1pm today for areas roughly along and north of Highway 412. Thunderstorms off the high plains of Colorado will move east and then southeast along an old boundary which stretches across northern Ok. These storms will have the potential to produce damaging winds over 65 mph and some large hail in a few locations.
Later this afternoon into the late evening hours, another round of storms may attempt to form across the same areas as daytime heating interacts with a surface boundary and abundant moisture. These would also be severe.
Early Monday, thunderstorms should be ongoing across the extreme northern Ok areas and then move to the northeast as the boundary slowly lifts north during the day. Temperatures will jump into the lower or mid 90s Monday and Tuesday.
